Assiatant Engineer

I work as an assistant engineer up here in Mawlai Kynton Massar, which is a part of Shillong in Meghalaya. Being in Block-A means I’m right in the middle of a busy residential and community area. The hills make the engineering work here a bit different than on the plains. You have to think about the slopes and the rain, which we get a lot of in this part of the world. My day usually involves checking on local projects, looking at drainage, or making sure the roads are holding up. It’s not a fancy office job. I spend a lot of time walking around the different blocks and talking to the local people about what needs fixing. The weather in Shillong can change in five minutes, so you always have to be prepared. I’ve lived here long enough to appreciate the pace of life, but the work still needs to get done. I don't have a big corporate logo or a polished website. Most people just know me as the engineer who handles things in the Mawlai area. It’s a practical job that keeps me out of the house and active. I try to be honest about what can be done and how long it will take. It’s about keeping the community's infrastructure in good shape so everyone can go about their day. Sometimes the mist is so thick you can't see the road, but we still find a way to get the inspections finished on time.
