You can find us over in the Kirti Nagar industrial area at Wz-8/6. It’s a noisy part of town, but that’s expected when you’re dealing with heavy equipment like transformers. The workshop floor is usually covered in bits of wire and metal shavings. We have these big overhead lights, but it still feels a bit dim in the corners where we store the older casings. It smells like oil and hot metal most of the time. We don't have a separate office really; there’s just a partitioned area with a desk where we keep the ledger and the phone. Most of the guys are out on the floor with their sleeves rolled up, working on the coils. It’s a lot of manual work, winding things just right and checking the insulation. Sometimes the power in the area flickers, which is ironic given what we make here. We take our lunch breaks together out on the front step if the weather isn’t too hot. Kirti Nagar is always full of trucks and people moving furniture, so getting things in and out of our gate takes some patience. We’ve got a few old fans that rattle on the walls to keep the air moving. It’s a gritty job, but someone has to make sure the voltage stays steady. We just keep our heads down and focus on the assembly until the whistle blows.
