Sartaj Paint Brushes

Sartaj Paint Brushes is over at 2A / 40 in Ramesh Nagar. It’s a local neighborhood spot and we’ve been part of the street for a long time. Our shop is mostly filled with the smell of wood and bristles. We spend our time putting together brushes and making sure the handles are smooth. There’s always some dust on the floor from the wood, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a small operation. We have a couple of workbenches where we sit and do the fine work by hand. People from around the area stop in to buy a few brushes for their homes or shops. We don’t have a big fancy sign or anything, just the address and the work we do inside. The light in the shop is a bit dim in the back, so we do most of the assembly near the front window. Ramesh Nagar is a busy place, and we like watching the world go by from our door. We’ve seen kids grow up and open their own shops nearby. We just keep making our brushes, one by one. It’s not a fast process, but we don’t like to rush it anyway. There’s a kettle in the back for making tea, and we take breaks when the mail comes. It’s a steady, quiet kind of life here and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood over the many years.
