Ratan Dawakhana

Ratan Dawakhana is over at J 29 30 in Ramesh Nagar. We are very close to the metro station, so you can hear the trains passing by every few minutes. The shop is a bit small, and we have shelves crammed with bottles and jars. It smells like a mix of honey, herbs, and some bitter things. We spend a lot of time just measuring out powders on the old scales. It’s not a modern pharmacy with bright lights and plastic. We have wooden drawers that sometimes get stuck if the weather is too humid. We know most of the people who live in this part of Ramesh Nagar. They stop by to tell us about their kids or their back pain. We have a small bench where they can sit while we talk. The floor is made of old tiles that are a bit worn down in the middle. We don't have a fancy computer system; we just use a pen and a notebook to keep track of things. Sometimes we get a bit behind on the cleaning because there’s so much to do. The street outside is always full of people and vegetable sellers. We stay open quite late because that’s when most people are heading home from work. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know. We don't do any big ads; people just know where we are. It’s a simple, honest way to run a shop in a busy neighborhood.
