Raja Ram Paras Prabhu

Our office is located at number 22 in the Punjabi Bagh Tpt Centre, right off Rohtak Road. If you’ve ever been to a transport center, you know exactly what it’s like. It’s loud, there’s always the smell of diesel in the air, and there are huge trucks parked everywhere. Raja Ram Paras Prabhu is just one of many businesses here, but we’ve got our own little corner. The office is mostly just a place to keep the ledgers and wait for the drivers to arrive. Rohtak Road is always jammed, so getting here in the morning takes longer than it should. We spend a lot of time just sitting on the plastic chairs outside the door when it's too hot inside the cabin. We don’t have air conditioning, just a big pedestal fan that blows the papers around if we aren't careful. It’s a practical kind of place. We don't have any posters on the walls or fancy decorations. It's just work. We know most of the other guys in the transport center. We've shared a lot of tea and stories over the years. Some days the work is non-stop and we're still here late at night under the yellow streetlights. Other days, we just wait for the phone to ring and watch the mechanics working on the tires nearby. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. The mud in the rainy season is the worst part, but you just get used to wearing heavy boots and getting on with it.
