If you walk around Tilak Nagar East, you’ll eventually run into us at 23/3A. Raitco Automotive is basically a place full of grease, metal parts, and the smell of oil. I’ve spent more hours here than I can count. We deal with all sorts of car bits and pieces. It’s usually pretty busy because there are always cars needing something fixed in this part of town. My hands are almost always dirty, and I stopped trying to keep my clothes clean a long time ago. The shop is a bit of a maze with shelves full of boxes that only I really understand. We don't have any fancy waiting rooms or coffee machines here. People just come in, tell us what’s wrong with their vehicle, and we see what we can do. Some days are slow and we just sit by the entrance watching the traffic go by on the main road. Other days, we are working late into the evening under the shop lights. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know a lot of the people who drive past every day. It’s a tough business because parts can be hard to get sometimes, but we manage. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours and we’ve built it up year by year. It is what it is, just a garage for people who need things fixed.
