If you head down Masjid Wali Gali in Nihal Vihar, near the 50 Feet Road, you’ll find us at B 297. Public Clinic is located right in the heart of Rajindra Market, which is always buzzing with energy. Being near the mosque means we hear the calls to prayer throughout the day, which provides a nice rhythm to our work. The clinic itself is on a busy lane in Nangloi where there’s always something happening. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but most people in the neighborhood know the shortcut through the market. Our space is pretty simple—just some whitewashed walls and a few sturdy benches for people to sit on. We keep a large jar of water for anyone who is thirsty after walking through the heat of Nihal Vihar. The floors are concrete and we try to keep them clean, though the dust from the street is a constant battle. It’s a practical setup meant to serve the local families. We don’t have a lot of high-tech equipment visible; it’s more about the personal interaction. I spend my days talking to people who have lived in Nangloi for years. There is a sense of community here that you don't get in the bigger city centers. We just open the shutters in the morning, set out the files, and wait to see who needs us. It’s a modest way to spend the day. I usually close up when the market starts to thin out.
