Pehli Umeed Foundation

Pehli Umeed Foundation is located at Plot No C 200 in Mayapuri Phase II. We are right next to C 201, so if you're in that part of New Delhi, we aren't hard to spot. Mayapuri is a busy industrial area, and being right in the middle of it suits us just fine. Our space isn't decorated with anything special. It’s mostly just a place where we can store things and meet up to talk about our next steps. We named ourselves Pehli Umeed because we wanted to offer a bit of a start to people who aren't sure where else to go. We don't have a lot of rules about how things should look. If there's a problem, we try to fix it. If someone needs help, we see what we have available. Working in Phase II means we’re surrounded by workshops and factories, so there’s always a lot of dust and noise, but that’s just part of the day. We are a small team, and we all end up doing a bit of everything, from cleaning the floor to filing papers. We aren't experts in everything, but we try to be practical. Most of our work happens on the streets or in people's homes, but this plot is where we gather our thoughts. It’s a humble spot for humble work. We just do what we can with what we’ve got and keep moving.
