About Parishkaran Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in West Delhi
Parishkaran Foundation is based in Flat No- 71, which is a DDA flat over in Jwala Heri. Jwala Heri is famous for its market, so it’s always packed with people looking for bargains and street food. Our flat is on the upper floors, so you have to climb the stairs, which is good exercise but tiring in the heat. It’s a typical DDA layout that many people in Delhi live in. We’ve turned the main room into our workspace. It’s a bit tight with all the files and the printer, but it works for us. We don't have a fancy lobby or a board of directors meeting in a glass room. It’s usually just a couple of us sitting around a table with some tea and biscuits. The windows look out over the other flats and you can hear the sounds of the market in the distance. We chose this spot because it’s central and people can find us easily once they know which block we are in. The name Parishkaran is something we liked, though it’s hard for some people to spell right the first time they hear it. We don't do any big marketing or advertising. We just exist here in this flat, doing our bit. It’s a bit dusty because of the constant construction nearby, but that’s just life in Delhi. We keep the door open most of the time to let the air in. It’s just a normal, everyday foundation office.
