Mehta Furnishers

You can find Mehta Furnishers over on Main Najafgarh Road. We’re at No. 1 Chotey Lal Park, right across from Kirti Nagar. This area is known for wood and furniture, so we fit right in. Our shop is filled with all sorts of pieces we’re working on. There is usually the smell of sawdust and varnish in the air whenever you walk in. It’s a busy street, so there is always noise from the traffic outside. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. It’s not a shiny showroom like the ones you see in the malls. It’s more of a workshop where we actually make things. We have a few guys who have been sanding and polishing furniture here for decades. They know what they’re doing. We keep a lot of wood stacked up in the back. Sometimes the place looks a mess with all the scraps and tools lying around, but that’s how we work. We don’t have a website or fancy brochures. People usually just see our sign while driving by and stop in to see what we have. We talk to them, show them what’s ready, and take it from there. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We just try to make things that last and keep the shop running day to day. We sometimes drink chai together in the afternoon when the sun hits the front of the shop and the light gets dim.
