Happy Motor sits right in the middle of Mayapuri Phase-2 at E-157. If you know Mayapuri, you know it’s always crowded and loud with the constant sound of hammers and engines. Our shop is no different. We have grease on the floor and old parts stacked in the corners because we never seem to have enough shelf space for everything. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the late afternoons. Most of the guys here have been working on cars since they were kids. We drink a lot of tea while looking under hoods and talking about what's wrong with some radiator. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but we know where every tool is, even if it looks like a mess to someone walking in off the street. E-157 isn’t hard to find once you get into the industrial lanes. The traffic in Phase-2 can be a real headache around five o'clock. We usually just stay a bit late to let the road clear out. The radio in the back plays the same five stations every single day. Sometimes the signal cuts out when a big truck passes by the front door. We don’t really do fancy waiting rooms. There’s a plastic chair near the entrance if someone needs to sit down for a minute. It’s just a regular workshop where we spend our days getting our hands dirty and trying to fix whatever comes through the gate.
