We are Klj Townplanners Pvt. Ltd. and we work out of 28 D Navyug Apartment in F Block Vikaspuri. It’s a New Delhi address, zip 110018, and it’s been our home for a while. Usually, you’ll find three or four of us here hunched over big tables with maps spread out everywhere. We aren’t one of those fancy firms with glass walls and receptionists in suits. It’s an apartment, so it feels a bit more like home than an office. Most of our day is spent dealing with the local authorities and trying to get town planning documents in order. The stairs up to the office can be a bit steep if you aren’t used to them. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the computers to render out the new layouts. Vikaspuri is quite crowded these days so we usually hear the traffic from the street outside throughout the afternoon. Our desk drawers are full of old rulers and pens that barely work. We started this because we knew how to handle the land paperwork and it just grew from there. It’s not always exciting work but it’s what we know. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around talking until it comes back on. We know the neighbors in Navyug pretty well by now. If you’re coming to see us, just look for the F Block gate and ask the guard for the 28 D unit. He usually knows where we are.
