J. K. Forgings is situated at B-83 in Phase-I of the Mayapuri Industrial Area. Mayapuri is a place that never really stays quiet, and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop is where the metal gets worked into shape using heat and a lot of pressure. It’s a dirty job, to be honest. Your hands stay stained with oil and bits of metal shavings no matter how much you wash them. We have several forging units that run throughout the shift, and the sound of metal hitting metal is basically the soundtrack to our lives. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anyone to greet you at the door with a smile; usually, you just find someone on the floor and ask what’s happening. The space is tight because we have to fit the machines, the raw steel rods, and the finished parts all in one area. We focus on the physical aspect of the work—making sure the forge is at the right temperature and the hammers are hitting true. When a batch is finished, we pile them up in crates for the trucks to pick up. There isn’t much room for error when you’re dealing with hot steel. We just keep our heads down, do the work, and hope the electricity doesn't cut out in the middle of a big job. It’s a lot of sweat and hard labor but that is just the nature of the business.
