Grm Helping Hand Foundation

If you're looking for us, we’re down in the basement of building 12/19 in West Patel Nagar. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for the sign near the stairs. Being in a basement means we don't get much natural light, but it stays fairly cool even when the sun is beating down outside. The Grm Helping Hand Foundation has been in this spot for a bit. It’s a bit of a trek down the steps, and they are a little uneven, so you have to watch your footing. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and a few computers that have seen better days. We spend a lot of time down here, sometimes losing track of whether it’s raining or sunny outside. There’s a small ventilation fan that hums in the corner, which becomes like background music after an hour or two. We share the space with some storage boxes and extra chairs for when we have meetings. It’s a functional place, nothing more. We don't have a fancy lobby or a coffee machine; we just get our tea from the guy at the corner of the street. It’s a quiet life in the basement, but we get a lot of things sorted out away from the noise of the main road. Most people who come by are locals who know the shortcut through the alley. We just keep our heads down and focus on the daily tasks.
