Chitrankit Prints

Working at 7/3, 1St Floor on D B Gupta Road is definitely an experience because Paharganj is always moving. Chitrankit Prints is located right in that bustle, so there is never a dull moment. You can hear the rickshaws and the tourists from the window all day long. Our workshop is mostly filled with the sound of the printing machines humming. It gets a bit loud, so we have to raise our voices to hear each other sometimes. The walls are a bit stained with ink, and the floor has a few cracks, but it’s a place where work actually gets done. We don’t have a fancy reception area or a person to answer phones. If the phone rings, whoever is closest just picks it up. Most of our day is spent handling different kinds of paper and making sure the colors look okay on the page. The heat can be tough in May, and the old ceiling fan doesn't do much except move the dust around the room. We take turns going out to get tea for everyone in the afternoon from the stall nearby. It is a small team here, and we’ve all known each other for a long time. People usually find us by word of mouth because our sign is pretty small and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. It is just a basic printing shop in a very busy part of town. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders before the sun sets.
