Chhabra Fine Art Press has been sitting at A 174 Fateh Nagar on Jail Road for a long time. Being on Jail Road means there is a constant stream of traffic and people outside our front door. When you step inside, the first thing that hits you is the heavy smell of ink and paper. We have printing presses that make a steady thumping noise all day long, and you eventually stop noticing it after a while. There are stacks of paper everywhere, some for big jobs and some for small ones, piled up in almost every corner. My hands usually have a bit of ink on them by noon, and it never really washes off completely. We do not have any fancy furniture or a big waiting area for customers. People just come in, stand by the main counter, and tell us what they need printed. It is a very practical environment. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the afternoon with a wrench in hand, but that is just how the printing business goes. We check the colors by eye and make sure the paper is feeding through correctly. It is a lot of repetitive work, but we take it seriously. We are just a local press trying to keep up with the orders that come through. It is a bit loud and a bit messy, but we have been doing it this way for years.
