Calcutta Clinic

Calcutta Clinic is located at F-433 in Karampura, right near the Haryana Dharam Shala. That is usually how people find us—they just look for the Dharam Shala and then we are right there. The clinic is a basic setup on the ground floor of the building. We have a front desk that stays a bit cluttered with papers and a stapler that always seems to jam. The waiting area has a few chairs and a ceiling fan that wobbles a little when it is turned on the high setting. It is a local place, so we see a lot of the same faces from around the Karampura neighborhood. We spend the day checking people in and out, writing everything down in the big register book. It is not like those big city hospitals; it is much smaller and more personal for the people who live here. The walls have a few posters about health, but they are mostly just there to cover up some marks on the old paint. We keep a kettle in the back room for making tea during our short breaks. Sometimes the street noise gets loud because of the busy market nearby, but we are all used to it by now. We do not have a fancy mission statement or a polished logo. We just open the doors in the morning, see who needs help, and do our best with what we have. It is a practical way to run things.
