You can find us at Shop No K/3 in the Andha Mughal part of Pratap Nagar. We are really close to the Pratap Nagar Metro Station, so you can always hear the trains pulling in and out throughout the day. The shop is a mix of paint and hardware, which means it smells like a combination of metal and chemicals. It is a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls to hang tools and stack brushes. Sometimes the morning commute brings in people who realized they forgot a bolt or a small can of varnish. The area around Andha Mughal is pretty old and has its own character. We have a lot of regulars who live in the nearby flats and come in when something breaks. It isn't the neatest shop in the world; there are boxes of nails and stacks of sandpaper tucked into every corner. We spend a lot of time hunting for small items that customers describe but don't know the name of. The counter is old wood and has been worn down by years of people leaning on it. Working near the metro means there's always a steady flow of people walking past the shop front. We just keep the lights on and help whoever stops in. It’s a basic way to make a living, selling what people need to fix up their homes. The work is steady and keeps us on our feet from morning until the shutters go down.
