Badhwa Flower Decoration

If you get off at the Tilak Nagar metro station and walk towards 29/1 A, you'll find Badhwa Flower Decoration. The shop is usually covered in bits of leaves and cut stems because we are always putting something together. It’s not a quiet place. We have buckets of water everywhere and the floor is almost always a little damp. We handle a lot of flowers for different things, mostly for folks in the neighborhood who need something for a house function or just a small gathering. It gets really busy during the festival times, and sometimes we are working late into the night just to finish the garlands. The smell of jasmine and roses is quite strong, which is nice, but after working here all day, you kind of stop noticing it. We aren't a big corporate florist with a shiny website. We just have our small spot near the station where people can drop in. Sometimes the delivery bikes block the entrance, and we have to move them around. It's a bit chaotic, especially when a big order comes in last minute. We try to keep the flowers fresh, though the heat makes it tough sometimes. We just focus on what’s in front of us, trimming stems and tying knots. It’s a lot of manual work and our hands are usually stained green by the afternoon. There isn't much to it besides being here and doing the work.
