Our place is on the first floor at E 36 in Rajouri Garden. Being in New Delhi means it is never truly quiet, especially in a busy spot like this. We handle a lot of language work, so the office is usually filled with the sound of people typing or talking on the phone in different tongues. The stairs leading up to our floor are a bit narrow, and we always tell people to watch their step. There are stacks of dictionaries and reference books everywhere because we still like to check things on paper sometimes. Rajouri Garden is a great place to be because of all the food nearby, so lunch is always the best part of the day. Our office is a bit cluttered with old files and posters from different countries we have worked with. We have a big table in the middle where we all sit when we need to figure out a difficult translation. The air conditioner is a bit loud, but it keeps us from melting in the Delhi heat. We have been in this building for a while now and know all the other shopkeepers downstairs. It is not a corporate headquarters, just a working office where we try to make sense of different languages. We usually leave late when the lights of the market are all bright outside.
