Aajivika Poor Help Foundation

We are located at Shop No. A-67 in the J.J. Colony on Pankha Road. Uttam Nagar is a very busy area and our shop is right in the thick of it. Aajivika Poor Help Foundation was set up to help the people living in the colony who are struggling to make ends meet. Being in a shop-front makes us very accessible. People don't have to go through any security or make appointments; they just walk in off the street. Most of the people we help are looking for work or need help with basic things like school fees for their kids. We keep a lot of records on who is hiring nearby and we try to match people with jobs. It is very basic work but it makes a difference to the families here. The noise from Pankha Road is constant, with buses and horns honking all day long, but we’ve learned to ignore it. Our space is cramped and we have files stacked up to the ceiling. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy reports. We just keep a ledger of who we’ve helped and what we need to do next. It’s a very grassroots way of working. Most of us grew up in areas like this so we know what the challenges are. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just our little corner of Uttam Nagar.
