You can find us at Teen Lalten Chowk. That’s a landmark everyone around here knows because of the three lanterns. Our shop is right in the thick of it. It’s an old building with high ceilings and shelves that reach all the way up. We use a wooden ladder to get things from the top. It’s been in the family for a long time. We aren’t interested in making it look like a modern boutique. It’s a practical place for practical people. The floor is made of old stone that’s worn smooth from years of people walking on it. We get a lot of regulars who come in just to chat for a minute before they buy what they need. Teen Lalten Chowk is always buzzing with energy. There are fruit sellers and rickshaws everywhere. It’s a bit chaotic but we like the noise. We open the shutters early in the morning. The air is a bit cooler then. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. If people need us, they just walk over. We keep things simple. There’s a small radio behind the counter that usually plays the news. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day. It’s just how we operate. D K Sons is part of the furniture of this neighborhood and we plan to stay that way.
