Chhotanagpur Rope Works Pvt Ltd has been operating out of 38 2nd Pathan Street for quite some time now. It’s an old street and our building has been there for as long as most of us can remember. As the name says, we work with ropes and similar materials. The building is always full of that specific smell of fibers and warehouse air. It’s not a modern factory with robots; it’s more about people and their hands. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for ages. They know the ropes, literally. The space is a bit cramped sometimes because we have so much stock piled up, but we know where everything is. People come to us when they need something specific that the bigger stores don't carry. We don't have a website that’s updated every day or a big marketing team. It’s mostly just us answering the phone and writing down orders in a ledger. 2nd Pathan Street is a narrow one, so it can be tricky for big trucks, but we make it work. We take pride in the fact that we’ve stayed in the same spot and kept doing the same thing for so long. It’s a steady business. We don't need much more than our workspace and our regular customers who know they can find us here every morning. It is a bit messy, but it is real work.
