Amvfarmowyn Exim Private Limited is based in a place called Vattathani in the Valavayal area. It’s up in the Wayanad hills. Our address is IX/435 and it’s quite a climb to get up here if the roads are wet from the rain. We work mostly with farm-related exports, which makes sense given where we are located. The office is modest and simple. We have a few desks and a place to store samples of what we are sending out to the market. You can hear the birds and the wind through the trees most of the day. It’s a lot different from a city office with traffic noise. We spend a lot of time talking to local growers and farmers. There’s a lot of trust involved in what we do. We check the quality of the produce ourselves before it gets packed. Sometimes the logistics of getting goods down from the hills to the port are a real nightmare. We’ve had trucks break down or get delayed by landslides during the monsoon. You just learn to plan for it and keep some extra time. We are a small team and everyone does a bit of everything. One day you’re on the phone, the next you’re helping load a crate or checking labels. It’s hard work but it feels right to be part of the local economy. We just get the work done as it comes in.
