About L & M Dryfruit Processing Industry – Food & Beverages in Washim
Over at Midc Washim, right near the seed processing industry, you will find L & M Dryfruit Processing Industry. We’ve got a decent-sized shed there where we do all the sorting and packing. It’s a dusty place because of all the trucks moving around the industrial area. We spend most of our time opening bags, checking the quality, and getting things ready for the local markets. It’s heavy work and my back usually hurts by the end of the shift. We don't have any fancy robots; it is all done by hand by the few of us who work here. The smell of nuts and dried fruits is everywhere, which isn't bad compared to the chemical smells from some of the other units nearby. We keep the equipment clean, even if the floor gets covered in shells and bits of cardboard. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. It’s not a high-speed factory. We take our time to make sure things aren't spoiled. We don't have a big boss in a suit; it’s just us in our work clothes. People know us for being there every morning at six. We just handle the dry fruits and try to stay out of the heat as much as possible. It’s honest labor in a tough environment. We’ve been here since the industrial zone was much smaller.
