Shwetahospital

This hospital is located right near Jatpura Gate. It is a very old part of town and the gate itself is a big landmark that everyone knows. The streets around here are narrow and always full of cows, bikes, and rickshaws. We are in a building that has been here for quite some time. It has high ceilings and the walls are thick, which helps with the heat. We have different sections for different things but it’s not a giant place. You can walk from one end to the other in just a minute if the hallway isn't blocked. We have some wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait for their turn. The windows are usually kept open to let the air in since it gets stuffy with so many people. There is always the sound of the traffic and people shouting outside the gate. It’s a very lively spot to work in. Our staff has been here for years and we all know each other's families quite well. We don’t have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and health posters that have been there forever. The floors are stone and they get mopped every couple of hours to keep the dust down. We have a small courtyard in the middle where people sometimes stand to get a bit of fresh air. It isn't a modern glass building. It’s just a practical place for the people living in this neighborhood.
