Mandakini Mekong Friendship Association

The Mandakini Mekong Friendship Association is located at number 49 in Hindustan Colony, right off Wardha Road. It's a pretty quiet neighborhood compared to the main road traffic. We started this because we wanted to see more connection between our local area and the regions around the Mekong. It sounds like a big idea, but we are just a small group operating out of a regular house. We spend our time reading about history and looking at how people live in different places. Sometimes we host small get-togethers where we talk about water issues or cultural things that both places share. There isn't a front desk or any corporate signage, just a gate and a door. We get mail from far away sometimes which is interesting for the postman. Most of the work is just writing letters or planning small projects that don't need much money. Wardha Road is always busy, but once you turn into the colony, it slows down a lot. We like it that way because it gives us time to think and talk without much noise. It is just a few of us who care about these links between different parts of the world. We don’t have a big budget or anything like that. We just use the space we have at home to keep the association going. It’s simple and we keep it that way for now. We think it matters to stay connected with others.
