Yakambra Chary Gold Smith

Yakambra Chary Gold Smith is a small place located at House Number 3-76 in Sriramgiri. We’re in the Nellikudur area of Warangal. It’s more of a home-based workshop than a big jewelry store. We spend our hours hunched over a workbench with small tools and a torch. Working with gold requires a lot of patience and a steady hand. People from the village come to us when they need something repaired or a small piece made for a wedding or a gift. We don't have those bright lights and glass cases you see in the city. It’s a very traditional way of doing things. Our tools have been with us for years, and they work just fine. There’s usually a bit of tea around and someone stopping by for a chat while we work. It’s a quiet life for the most part, though the fine details can be taxing on the eyes. We take pride in the fact that we do everything by hand. It’s a craft we’ve practiced for a long time. The house is easy to find if you know the Sriramgiri neighborhood. We don’t do big advertisements. Most people just hear about us from their neighbors. It’s just about being honest with the metal and making sure the person is happy with the final piece. We really enjoy the craft of making things for our community.
