Vivekananda Travels

Vivekananda Travels is based at 2-690 in Madharam, Parkal. It’s a fairly straightforward setup where we handle all the travel arrangements and bus schedules. The building is right on the side of the road, so it’s easy for passengers to find us when they are looking for a ride. We have a small waiting area with a few benches that have seen a lot of use over the years. People are always coming in to ask about timings or to book a seat for the next day. It can get a bit hectic in the mornings when the main buses are preparing to depart. There’s a lot of checking lists and making sure everyone has their luggage sorted. Our office is just a desk with a telephone and a few notebooks where we write everything down. We don't use many fancy systems; we find that writing it down works best for us. The walls are mostly bare except for a few maps and the schedules. Madharam is a quiet enough place until the buses start rolling through. We spend a lot of time talking to people from all over who are just passing through Parkal. It’s a good way to hear stories and meet different folks. We try to keep things running on time, but sometimes the roads have other plans. It’s just us doing our best to help people get where they need to go. We keep some cold water for those waiting in the heat.
