Vijaya Lakshmi Enterprise

Down in Ramanna Peta in Warangal, we run our small enterprise at number 138. The building is simple and we keep things pretty basic. Most of our day involves moving stock and talking to the locals who stop by. Warangal gets very hot in the summer, so we usually have a fan going full blast all day long. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. It’s just us managing the shop and making sure we have what people are looking for. The street outside is narrow and can get crowded with carts and bikes. We know the neighbors well and we often help each other out when things get busy. Sometimes we sit on the bench out front when things are slow. We’ve been in Ramanna Peta for a long time and we’ve seen the kids grow up and start their own families. Our records are mostly kept in hand-written books because that’s what we are comfortable with. It’s a lot of manual work, checking boxes and counting items by hand. We don't try to be something we aren't. We just provide what we can to the community here. If the power goes out, we just wait it out and chat with whoever is around the corner. It’s a slow but steady life and we wouldn't change much. We close up early on festival days to be with our families and have a nice meal.
