Swamy Dairy Farms

We are out here in Potharajpalle, which is part of Geesugonda. My house is number 1-153 and the dairy is right there. It’s mostly cows and the work that comes with them. Every morning starts very early, way before the sun is up, because the animals need tending to. We get the milk ready and handle the daily chores that a farm requires. There’s always cleaning to do and feed to move around. It’s a lot of physical work, and my hands are usually pretty rough from it. We’ve lived in this village for a long time, so everyone knows where the farm is. It’s a small operation, nothing like those massive industrial places you see on TV. We just take care of our animals and make sure the milk goes out every day. The weather really dictates how our day goes. If it rains hard, the ground gets muddy and everything takes twice as long. We don't have a big office or anything, just the sheds and the house. It's just what we do to get by. Most days are the same, but that is fine with us. We just keep working and looking after the herd. There are some days when things go wrong, like a fence breaking, but we just fix it and carry on with our work. It is just the way life is on a farm like ours. We don't use computers much, just our hands and some basic tools.
