Sujatha Chicken Center

Our chicken center is located at house number 1-154 in the Gangaram area. It is a small place that sits right on the main path where people walk every day. We open up early, usually while the mist is still hanging over Kothagudem, to get everything ready for the first customers. The shop has a basic setup with the cages at the back and the cutting area right at the front so people can see what is happening. We have a couple of light bulbs hanging from the ceiling that flicker a bit when the power fluctuates, which happens more often than we would like. The floor is concrete and we wash it down with a hose every few hours to keep everything as clean as we can. It is a loud environment with the sounds of the street outside and the work going on inside. We do not use any fancy packaging or machines; it is all done by hand with knives and a manual scale. People from around the neighborhood stop by on their way home from work to pick up something for dinner. We know most of the faces that come through the door. It is hard work on your feet all day, especially when it gets humid, but it is a steady living. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the shop is ready for the next day.
