Srilatha Tailoring

Srilatha Tailoring is located at H. No:-1-129 in Bhanjipet. This is in the Narsampet part of Warangal. I have a couple of sewing machines set up in the front room of my house. I spend most of my day sitting there, working through piles of fabric. Mostly I do blouses and dresses for the local women, and sometimes I mend clothes that have gone thin at the elbows or knees. It’s quiet work, but my eyes get tired after a few hours of looking at the stitches. I like choosing the different threads to match the bright colors of the saris. People bring their own cloth and I take their measurements, usually chatting about the village news while I work. Sometimes I get behind if there’s a big wedding coming up and everyone wants their new outfits at the same time. I don’t have a big sign outside, just my name and what I do. My daughter helps me with the finishing touches like buttons and hooks when she isn't busy with her studies. It’s a small business, but it’s been enough to keep us going for years. I’ve lived in Bhanjipet all my life, so I know almost everyone who walks through the door. It’s nice to see people wearing the things I’ve made for them at the local temple or the village market. It feels good to know that my work is actually being used by my neighbors every day.
