Srilatha Dairy Farms

Our farm is out here in Anantharam, near Geesugonda. Life starts very early for us, usually around four in the morning when the cows start making noise. It is a quiet place otherwise, away from the big city noise that you find elsewhere. We spend most of our time cleaning out the sheds and making sure the animals are fed and happy. It is hard work on the back, and your clothes always smell like the farm, but we do not mind much. The milk goes out every morning to the people in the nearby areas. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult for us, like when it rains too much and the roads get very muddy. We have a few people from the village who come and help us with the milking and the grazing in the afternoons. It is not a big corporate setup, just us and the animals living together. We grow some of our own fodder too, so that keeps us busy in the fields during the day. My kids sometimes help out after school, though they usually prefer playing in the dirt or with the calves. We have had these cows for generations, and they are like part of the family now. You learn their tempers and which ones are going to be stubborn. We just try to get the fresh milk to the people who need it. It is a simple life with no weekends.
