Sri Shiva Keshava Lorry Transport

The office is right at 3-3 in Bairanpally. It’s not much more than a room with a few chairs and a lot of phone lines. Being in the transport business means someone is always calling about a truck or a load. Hasanparthi and Siddapoor are the areas we mostly cover, so we know the roads around here like the back of our hands. The lorries come and go at all hours. Sometimes the drivers stay overnight in the yard if they’ve had a long trip from the city. We have a lot of maps pinned to the wall, even though everyone uses phones now. The desk is covered in old logbooks and half-empty chai cups. It gets dusty because of the trucks moving the dirt around outside. We’ve had the same mechanics working on the engines for years. They’re grumpy but they know their stuff. When a lorry breaks down in the middle of the night, someone has to go out there. It’s a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing. My brother handles the paperwork while I talk to the drivers. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. If the gate is open, we’re working. That’s about all there is to Sri Shiva Keshava. We just keep the wheels moving and hope for no flat tires on the highway. It’s a hard way to live, but we are used to it.
