Sri Laxmi Kirana & General Store

Sri Laxmi Kirana & General Store is right at 20/4 in Shiva Nagar. We are part of the Mankammathota neighborhood, which is a pretty lively area to be in. The shop is a bit small, so we have to be smart about where we put the rice bags and the oil tins. It’s mostly just us and a couple of family members helping out when it gets busy. We see the same people every morning when they come for their daily items. The floor is a bit worn down from all the walking, but it shows how many people come through. We don’t have any of those automatic doors or anything. Just the basic metal shutter that we pull up at the start of the day. It’s a lot of counting change and writing things down in the ledger. Sometimes we run out of things and have to tell people to come back tomorrow after the truck arrives. It’s just the way things go in a small store like this. We don’t have a big mission or any of that, just trying to keep the shelves full and the shop clean. It gets a bit hot in the summer, but we have a small fan that helps. It’s a simple life here in Shiva Nagar, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the street. Every day is mostly the same, but that is fine with us.
