Sarangapani Hotel

Sarangapani Hotel is located at H. No -2-W in Gurijala, right in the middle of Chennaraopet. It is not actually a hotel with rooms for sleeping, despite the name. It is more of a local place where people come when they are hungry. We start our work very early, usually long before the sun has even come up, just to get the big stove going. The air inside gets very thick with steam and the smell of whatever we have cooking in the large pots. We have a few simple wooden benches and some tables that have definitely seen better days over the years. They are sturdy enough for the job, though. People from all over the village stop by on their way to the fields or to work to grab something hot to eat. I am usually the one wiping down the tabletops with a grey cloth or calling back to the kitchen about a new order. It is always noisy and there is always something bubbling or sizzling on the fire. The floor is made of plain concrete and it often gets a bit slippery if we are not careful with the wash water. We don't bother with a printed menu or anything fancy. Most people already know what we have ready. Sometimes we run out of the best dishes by mid-morning. The heat from the kitchen makes the whole front area very warm. We just keep serving as long as there is food left. After everyone leaves, we finally sit down for a meal ourselves.
