S V Convention

S V Convention is located right on the Main Road in Waddepally, very close to the Post Office. It is a big building that stands out in this part of Hanmakonda. We host a lot of different things here, from big noisy weddings to quiet local meetings. The main hall is quite large, so it takes a lot of work to keep the floor shining. We spend many hours moving heavy tables and arranging hundreds of chairs in straight rows. The kitchen in the back is always busy when there is an event, with steam coming out of the big pots. We have to keep a close eye on the lights and the sound system to make sure nothing stops working in the middle of a speech. Being a rural area, we see people from all the surrounding villages coming here for celebrations. It gets very crowded on lucky marriage dates. We are usually the first ones here in the morning to unlock the gates and the last ones to leave after the lights are shut off. Sometimes we find things left behind, like a single shoe or a colorful shawl, and we keep them in a box near the entrance. The parking area out front can be a bit of a mess when everyone arrives at once, but we manage. It is just a big space for people to gather and eat. We try to keep it looking decent for the next family.
