If you come down to Pembarthy in Jangaon, you will find us at House no. 6-28/1. This is where PEMBARTHY Brass, Copper & Silver Handicrafts is based. It’s not a factory; it is more of a traditional workspace. We work with our hands mostly. The house is where everything happens. You can hear the sound of metal being worked on from the street. Jangaon is a quiet place compared to the big cities, but we stay busy. We have brass and copper sheets lying around the yard. Silver work is done inside where it’s cleaner. My family has been doing this for a long time at this address. House no. 6-28/1 is just our home and shop combined. People stop by sometimes to see what we are making. We don't have a big sign out front, just the work itself. The tools we use are old, but they still work fine. It gets a bit messy with all the metal shavings, but that is part of the craft. PEMBARTHY Brass, Copper & Silver Handicrafts is just a local thing. We don't use big computers for our work. It is mostly just looking at the metal and deciding how to shape it. The sun hits the front porch in the morning, which is the best time to work. We just keep doing what we know how to do here in Pembarthy and try to keep the tradition alive. It’s home.
