Lingam Laundry Shop

This is our laundry shop in Itikalapally, near Narsampet in Warangal. The house number is 4-94. It’s a small setup where we handle washing and ironing for people in the neighborhood. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and many people here know us by name. Most of the washing is done by hand or in small machines, and then we hang everything out to dry when the sun is out. Ironing takes up a big part of our afternoon. We use the heavy charcoal irons because they seem to do a better job on certain fabrics. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months, but we stay at it. The shop is basically a small room at the front of our home. You’ll usually see clothes hanging everywhere. We try to get everything finished and folded by the evening so people can pick up their things on their way back from work. Sometimes we get behind if it rains for a few days straight because drying becomes a problem. We don’t have a fancy delivery truck or anything; people just walk over and drop their bundles off. It’s a simple business, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. If you're looking for us, we’re just down the main path in the village. It’s easy to find because of all the clothes outside. We keep a notebook for the orders, though we know most customers' clothes by heart. It’s just how things work in a place like this.
