Laxmi Jewellery Works

You can find us in Yellaigudem, right near the Gram Panchaythi in Warangal. Laxmi Jewellery Works is a small place. We spend our time sitting at low benches with tiny hammers and torches. It gets quite hot in the workshop, especially in the summer months. We mostly do repair work or make small pieces for local families. People bring in their old gold to get it cleaned or turned into something new for a wedding. We don't have a big shining storefront with security guards. It’s a modest workshop where you can hear the sound of metal being tapped all day long. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the polishing compounds we use. We take our time because you can't rush this kind of work without making a mistake. Sometimes a stone is tricky to set, and it takes a couple of tries to get it right. Folks from the village know us and just drop by to chat or check on their orders. We aren't trying to be a famous brand. We just like making things that look nice and last a long time. It’s a traditional way of working that hasn't changed much over the years. We keep the shop open late sometimes if we have a big order to finish for a festival. It’s just how we do things here in Yellaigudem.
