Lakshmi Hospital

Our place, Lakshmi Hospital, is situated in Hanmakonda. It’s a regular building on a regular street, and that’s how we like it. We’ve been part of the Hanmakonda community for years now. People usually just walk in when they need something. The front door sticks a little bit when it’s raining, so you have to give it a good push. Inside, it’s mostly quiet, except for the sound of the nurses talking or the phone ringing at the desk. We don't have any shiny posters or expensive decorations on the walls. It’s mostly just calendars and a few notices for the patients. The floors are tile and they stay cool even when it’s burning hot outside. We have a small garden area in the back, though it’s mostly just some weeds and a couple of hardy bushes. The doctors here are local people too. We all live around the same neighborhood, so we see our patients at the market sometimes. It’s a very practical way to run a hospital. We don’t go for anything over the top. If a lightbulb goes out, one of us just gets a ladder and changes it. It’s that kind of place. People know they can come here and get what they need without any complications. Hanmakonda is a busy town, but inside these walls, things feel a bit slower and more focused on the daily tasks we have to do for everyone.
