Kumaraswamy Farming

Kumaraswamy has been working the land at H. No:-4-9 in Rangampally for quite some time now. This part of Laknepally is where we call home. The farm is right there at the house. Narsampet is the closest town we go to for supplies. Everyday life is mostly about the rhythm of the seasons. When it is time to plant, everyone is busy from dawn until dusk. When it is time to wait, we spend time fixing the equipment or cleaning up the yard. The house number 4-9 is easy to find if you are in the neighborhood. We don't have any big slogans or anything. It is just Kumaraswamy and a few others working hard. The ground can be stubborn sometimes, especially when it hasn't rained in weeks. We use the tools we have and try to make the most of what the land gives us. It is a lot of physical labor that leaves you tired by the end of the day. We sit out on the porch in the evenings and talk about how the crops are looking. It is a small life but it keeps us busy. The soil gets everywhere, even inside the house. That is just part of living on a farm in Rangampally. We keep going because it is what we know how to do.
