Kishan Auto Services is over in Rangapuram at house number 2-123. We are right there in Kesamudram and if you have a bike or a scooter that is making a funny noise, you usually end up at our door. The shop is full of old spare parts and oil cans that have been sitting there for months. My hands are almost always black from the engine grease and it never really comes off properly even with soap. We spend the whole day bending over engines and fixing punctures. Sometimes a farmer brings in a tractor that won't start and we have to go out to the field to take a look at it. It is dusty work because the road right outside isn't paved very well. We have a small bench where customers sit and smoke or drink tea while they wait for their oil change. I don't have a big sign or anything fancy, just the tools I have collected over the years and a bit of space to work. The rain sometimes leaks through a small hole in the roof but we just move the bikes to the dry side. It is just me and a helper boy who is learning how to patch tires and change the spark plugs. We don't do anything complicated, just keep the local vehicles running so people can get to their work or the market without breaking down.
