K G N Kiranam

K G N Kiranam is located at H. No -5-2-157 in Bokkala Gadda. I open the shutters pretty early in the morning, usually while the street is still quiet and the air is still a bit cool. The shop isn’t huge, but it’s packed with everything we can fit on the wooden shelves. There are bags of rice, different types of dals, soaps, and those small packets of biscuits that the local kids always ask for. I spend a lot of time just dusting things off because the road outside gets quite dusty in the afternoons when the wind picks up. People from around Bokkala Gadda drop by throughout the day. Some just want a single pack of matches or a liter of milk, while others come with a long list for the whole month's supplies. I use a small wooden desk to keep track of the credit and the stock in a thick notebook. The fan on the ceiling makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it helps when the sun is hitting the front of the shop. I don't really have a team or anything, it's just me and sometimes a family member helping out when it gets busy. We know most of the faces that come through the door every day. It’s a lot of standing and reaching for jars on high shelves. By the time I pull the shutters down at night, my back usually aches a bit, but that’s just how it is running a small shop.
