Hussain Chicken Center

The shop opens up early in Aleru because people want their meat fresh for lunch. We are located at house number 3-47 in Nellikudur. It’s a basic setup with some counters and the cutting area in the back. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. My hands are used to the work. Every morning the delivery comes in and we have to get everything ready before the sun gets too hot. Some customers are very picky about which parts they want. We just do what they ask. It gets busy on Sundays especially. Everyone wants chicken for their big family meal. The floor needs a lot of washing because it gets messy quickly. We use a lot of water and soap to keep it right. My cousin helps me out when he isn't busy with his own things. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to worry about the freezers. That's just how it is here. We aren't a big chain or anything. It is just a local spot for people in the village to get what they need for dinner. We talk about the weather or the local news while I weigh the bags on the scale. It’s not a glamorous job but it pays the bills and keeps us connected to the neighborhood. If you walk down the main road in Nellikudur you will see us there. We keep the lights on until the last bit of stock is gone for the day.
