Durgaiah Laundry Shop

Durgaiah runs this little laundry shop right out of house number 3-54 in the Pogullapelly area. We are located in Kothaguda, which is part of Warangal. The shop itself is quite small, mostly just a single room filled with irons, ironing boards, and piles of washing. We have been doing this work for many years now and it’s become our daily routine. People from all over the village bring their clothes to us in big bundles, especially when the weekend comes around. We use those heavy traditional irons that stay hot for a long time. It can get very warm in here during the summer, but we just keep the door open. The shop is really just an extension of the house. We know almost everyone who lives in this neighborhood. They drop off their shirts, saris, and pants, and we let them know when they should come back. Sometimes we might be a day late if the water supply is low or if the electricity goes out, but usually, we stay on track. We don't use any computers or fancy systems. We just mark each piece of clothing and keep a small handwritten book for all our accounts. It is hard work, standing on our feet all day, but it’s how we make our living. You can find us here from early morning until the sun sets. It’s a simple, local business. We don't have a website. If someone needs their clothes cleaned or pressed, they just walk over and talk to us directly. It's been that way for a long time.
