Bharathi Fish Market

If you come down to H. No -2-176 in Chennapur, you will find us at the fish market. It is a busy little spot here in Regonda. The floor is usually wet because we are always moving ice around to keep the catch fresh. It smells like the water, which some people don't like, but to us, it just means work. We get the fish in early, and then it is a rush to get everything sorted and laid out before the morning crowd arrives. There is a lot of shouting and talking as people haggle over prices. We don't have fancy display cases, just crates and slabs where the fish sit on ice. Our hands stay cold most of the day from handling the goods. It is a noisy place, especially when the neighbors are out too. We know most of the regulars by their first names or at least by what they usually buy. Sometimes the supply is great and the tables are full, other days it is a bit thin depending on what was caught that day. We just do our best with what we have each morning. It is a tough way to make a living because you are always on your feet and dealing with stuff that spoils fast if you aren't careful. But it is what we do, and the community in Chennapur depends on us being here every day. We just keep the ice fresh and the scales ready.
