Our shop is right across from the New Grain Market, specifically at the first gate in Enumamula. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets during the peak season. The morning starts early here because of the market activity. You can hear the tractors and the trucks rolling in before the sun is even fully up. My name is on the business, but it's really a group effort to keep things moving. We handle a lot of grain-related stuff since we are so close to the source. The dust from the market settles on everything, so we are always wiping down the counters and the window ledges. It’s a simple setup, just a few chairs, a big desk, and plenty of space for the goods in the back. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because it wouldn't last a day with all the activity outside. People stop by to talk shop or check prices, and we usually have a fan going to keep the heat away. It gets really hot in the summer months, and the metal roof doesn't help much, but that’s just how it is. We’ve been at this gate for a long time. Everyone knows where to find us. We don't do much advertising, mostly just word of mouth from the farmers and the traders who come through the market. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn until the market slows down in the evening. It’s just what we do.
