Achyutham Transport

Down in Ashoknagar, over in the Khanapur area, you can find us at 1-145. This part of Pakhalashokanagr is where we’ve set up our transport business. It’s a dusty place because we have trucks coming in and out at all hours. Our yard is usually full of spare tires and empty crates. We spend a lot of time under the hoods of the vehicles, making sure the engines are actually going to make the next trip. My hands are almost always covered in grease or oil. We have a small office that’s really just a room with a few desks and a bunch of logbooks piled up. We keep track of everything by hand because it’s just easier for us that way. The drivers come in after long hauls and tell us stories about the roads and the traffic. Some of the routes they take are pretty rough, so the trucks take a beating. We have to be on top of the maintenance or we’d be out of business. The weather here can be really unforgiving, especially when we’re out in the yard in the middle of the afternoon heat. We drink a lot of tea and just keep moving. Most of the people in the neighborhood know us as the transport guys. We’ve been here long enough that we’re just part of the local scenery. It’s a lot of work and the hours are long, but we’re used to it. We just focus on the schedule and making sure the lorries stay on the road.
